SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), 138-129 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 29 mm, 14.39 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Imitating Tyre, after SE 174 = 139/8. Diademed and draped bust of Antiochos VII to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, club surmounted by monogram; above club, IE; to right, monogram above ΔΟΡ (date); between the eagle's legs, AΣ. Cf. SC 2109.1 (for prototype with differing controls between the eagle's legs). A very well preserved contemporary plated imitation of somewhat blundered style. Very minor breaks in plating, otherwise, good very fine.
